ABOUT THE CREW
Hand and Hearth is a humanitarian relief organization dedicated to providing healing and medical care to people in need. (Think along the same lines as the Red Cross.) The crew operates a hospital ship called the Seventh Heroine, which sails anywhere that people need aid, even into the middle of an active crisis.

Although chartered with the paladins, Hand and Hearth strives to be as politically neutral as possible. The crew is composed of both paladins and corsairs who have pledged to prioritize the organization's mission above any other allegiances. Zelda treats this organization like a place of employment, so all crew members are paid for their service. Since Hand and Hearth is not profit-oriented, it is funded largely by wealthy philanthropists.
NEUTRALITY
Hand and Hearth's mission is to provide aid to anyone in need, regardless of affiliation or armada. Since the armadas usually focus on aiding their own members in need, any unaffiliated or marginalized people are left to fend for themselves. The organization exists to address this disparity by providing aid to those with the greatest need.

This neutral stance is key to the organization's success. As such, Zelda requires all crew members to set aside their other loyalties when serving aboard her ship. Cooperation and trust amongst crew members is vital, so rivalries and in-fighting are strictly forbidden. She allows some flexibility when the ship is docked or otherwise not responding to an emergency, but still expects her crew not to pick petty fights.

OOCly, players are free (and encouraged) to have their characters break this rule! Be sure to keep in mind that IC actions will have IC consequences, which could mean disciplinary action or being removed from the crew.
JOINING
Characters can join the crew in either a permanent or temporary capacity, regardless of which armada they're aligned with. If a character is already in another crew but still wants to help Zelda's cause, they can join temporarily as a contract worker. (More info about contracts below.)

ICly: At this time, all recruitment is going through Zelda. She is hiring characters that she knows and trusts, or that someone on her crew will vouch for. The exception is doctors or healers: Zelda is openly recruiting characters with medical knowledge and healing skill.

OOCly: Characters need to have CR with Zelda before she will invite them to join her crew. The exception is doctors or healers: if your character has medical skill, just shoot me a DM and we can talk about them joining!
SHIP, THE SEVENTH HEROINE
A barque, a mid-sized ship with three masts. It prioritizes speed and maneuverability, and is capable of outrunning larger, heavier vessels. One of the mid decks has been converted into a large medical bay, complete with a surgical room. It has a deep cargo hold, which allows it to carry a lot of medical supplies in addition to its other supplies. Zelda has given Garrus free reign to add whatever weapons and defenses he sees fit.

IC INFO
Any characters who wish to assist in Hand and Hearth's mission but don't want to leave their current crew are welcome to serve temporarily on short term contract. This option is primarily aimed at doctors and healers, but other help will not be turned away. Contractors decide for themselves the length of time the wish to serve aboard the Seventh Heroine, but Zelda asks that it be at least two months long.

During a tour of service, contractors are expected to follow the same code of conduct as permanent crew members. This means that while they are aboard the ship, they must temporarily set aside their allegiances to their own crew and armada. Failure to do so may result in early termination of their contract and blacklisting.
